Brighter shades banish the grey with just two powders
Before enliven the technology of pigmenting metal ceramics had not changed since the 1950s. The ceramics are low in value and so tend to look grey especially in subdued lighting. This was addressed this by adding more and more “special effect” powders to be laboriously built into the crowns – the time consuming so called multi layering technique. Additionally, the more powders you build into a crown the more difficult it is to predict the eventual shade you will achieve.

enliven MC addresses this by building greater brightness into the ceramic itself so only two powders are needed. This was a key part of the initial research and development brief.
